Commemorative star · Solana · USDC
How it works
Three steps from a blank form to a named star on the Solana blockchain and a certificate in your inbox. Here's everything you need to know before you start.
Name it
The star name is the heart of the whole thing. You get up to 120 characters — enough to say something real. It appears in your NFT metadata, on the certificate image, and becomes the permanent label attached to your on-chain record.
Good star names are personal, not generic. A name like "Margaret & Tom — 25 Years" means something to the people who matter. A name like "My Love, Always" is quiet and enduring. A name like "For Daisy, Who Made Every Room Brighter" honors someone whose absence is felt. These names don't need to be poetic — they just need to be true.
Some examples that work well:
- "She Said Yes — June 14, 2025"
- "For Dad. Still watching over us."
- "Happy 40th, Rachel — the best is still ahead"
- "Will You Marry Me, Sophia?"
- "Oliver James Chen — born March 3, 2026"
There's no approval process, no restrictions beyond character count, and no one else will see it unless you share it. Once submitted, the name is locked into the NFT metadata — so take a moment to get it right.
Pay in USDC
The price is $29 USDC, paid once via the Solana blockchain. There's no subscription, no hidden fees, and no recurring charge. USDC is a stablecoin — it's always worth $1 USD, so there's no volatility risk between when you start and when you confirm.
Why Solana?
Solana is one of the fastest, cheapest, and most environmentally efficient blockchains available. Transactions cost fractions of a cent and confirm in under a second. Your NFT lives on a major, durable blockchain — not an obscure sidechain. The network processes hundreds of thousands of transactions per day and has been running since 2020.
How to get USDC if you don't have it
If you're new to crypto, the easiest path is:
- Download Phantom Wallet — a free browser extension or mobile app at phantom.app
- Create a wallet and save your recovery phrase somewhere safe
- Buy USDC on Coinbase, Kraken, or any major exchange and withdraw to your Phantom wallet address
- Return here and connect your wallet to pay
What the $29 covers
The fee covers NFT minting on Solana (including network fees), certificate image generation, email delivery, and ongoing hosting of the metadata URI so your NFT displays correctly in Phantom and other wallets. It's a one-time payment for a permanent record.
Phantom wallet basics: Install the extension at phantom.app. Create a new wallet and write down your 12-word seed phrase — this is your master key. Never share it. Fund the wallet by purchasing USDC on an exchange and sending it to your Phantom address. That's it — you're ready to pay.
Receive
Once your payment confirms on-chain (usually within seconds), we generate your NFT and certificate. The NFT is minted to the wallet address you connected, and the certificate image is emailed to the address you provided.
What the NFT contains
Your Mint My Star NFT is a real Solana token — it lives in your wallet just like any other NFT. The metadata includes your star name, an order reference, a timestamp of when it was minted, and a URI pointing to your certificate image. You can view it in Phantom under the "Collectibles" tab, share it, or transfer it to another wallet.
What the certificate looks like
The certificate is a high-quality image — clean, minimal, and designed to be printed or shared digitally. It shows the star name, the mint date, a Mint My Star watermark, and a reference to the on-chain record. Many people print it and frame it. It arrives as an email attachment, usually within a few minutes of payment confirmation.
What the on-chain record means
The Solana blockchain is a public, distributed ledger. Once your NFT is minted, its record is stored across thousands of nodes worldwide. No single party — including us — can erase it. The star name you chose is permanently associated with that token. It's not an official astronomical designation, but as a digital keepsake, it's as durable as anything you can create online.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an official star name?
No — and we're upfront about that. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) is the only body that officially names stars, and those names are reserved for scientific purposes. Mint My Star is a commemorative service, like a personalized keepsake rather than an entry in a scientific registry. Your star name is real in the sense that it's recorded on a blockchain and attached to a certificate — but it won't appear in astronomical databases or telescope software.
Will it show up on star maps?
No. Star maps and planetarium apps (like Stellarium or SkySafari) draw from scientific catalogs — not from services like ours. Your star name exists on the Solana blockchain and in your certificate, not in any astronomical database.
Is the NFT real?
Yes — completely. It's a real Solana NFT, minted to your wallet, visible in Phantom under Collectibles, and stored on the blockchain permanently. The NFT is as real as any other Solana token. What it represents is a commemorative designation, not an official scientific one.
Can I give this as a gift?
Absolutely — and it's one of the most popular ways people use it. During checkout, enter the recipient's email address instead of your own, and the certificate will go directly to them. The NFT will be minted to your wallet (since you're paying), but you can transfer it to a recipient's wallet address if they have one. Or simply gift them the framed certificate — that's often more meaningful anyway.
What if I don't have a crypto wallet?
You'll need one to pay — specifically Phantom, which works as a browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge) or a mobile app. Visit phantom.app, create a wallet in about two minutes, and save your seed phrase. Then buy USDC on any major exchange (Coinbase is the easiest for US-based users) and send it to your Phantom address. Once you have $29 USDC in Phantom, come back here and you're ready to go.
Ready to name your star?
It takes about two minutes. Choose a name that matters, pay $29 USDC, and the certificate lands in your inbox.
